First Washes watercolor workbook cover
Color inspiration. Room to make it yours.

A few colors. A quiet flower. A place to begin. Each garden project brings together a colored example, suggested colors and a generous outline to transfer onto your painting paper.

Follow the example or wander into a palette of your own. There is no single right way to paint your garden.

Designed for adult and teen beginners. This is a printable painting workbook, not a paint-by-number kit.

From outline to first wash

1. Print and transfer

Print the outline on ordinary paper, then transfer it lightly onto watercolor paper.

2. Try your palette

Make a few swatches. Use the suggested colors, or choose the shades you already love.

3. Build gently

Start pale, leave highlights white, and let a wash dry before adding the next layer.

Choose your paper before you paint. For direct printing, check your printer's supported paper and test the ink with water first. If the line smears, use a pencil transfer instead. Ordinary printer paper is a tracing aid, not the recommended painting surface.

Do I need to match the example?

No. It is color inspiration, not an answer key. Try a different palette or repeat a project to see what changes.

Can I print every page again?

Yes, for your own household's personal, noncommercial use. Print only the outlines you need and view the colored examples on a screen to save color ink.

Does this include watercolor paper or a physical book?

No. This purchase is a downloadable PDF. You supply your own paper, paints, brushes and any printing or transfer materials.
