A closer look
Little numbers.
Rounded discoveries.
Malachite can form rounded, grape-like surfaces. Find two rounded lobes in this design, then choose a green to start.

What should I color with?
Designed for dry colored pencils. Use the printed color names as suggestions, choose the closest shades you have, and test your pencils on spare paper first. For the printable edition, choose paper compatible with your printer and pencils.
Do I need exactly 20 pencils?
No. The master key uses 20 numbered color names across the book; each page uses a smaller selection. Match them with the closest shades you have, or choose your own palette.
Are these mineral-identification pictures?
These are invented specimen studies. The colors are artistic suggestions, not a guide to identifying minerals.
Can I use wet media in the paperback?
The book is designed for dry colored pencils. Its paper has not been tested for wet media, and blank backs do not prevent bleed-through.

The numbered Malachite illustration starts uncolored. Pale green, leaf green and forest green fill its rounded forms. Beige, warm gray and umber fill the base. The matching key entry is highlighted with each color. The finished study holds on screen with a prompt to notice the rounded, grape-like surfaces.
